Après 47 ans passés dans la ville d’Oakland, les Warriors de Golden State vont déménager à San Francisco au terme de cette saison. Le champion en titre va donc vivre sa dernière saison dans son mythique ORACLE ARENA.
A la fin de la saison 2018-2019, nous ne verrons plus Stephen Curry et Golden State dans la salle de l’Oracle Arena. En effet, les nouveaux propriétaires de la franchise de l’Etat de Californie à l’ouest des Etats-Unis, Joe Lacob et Peter Guber ont décidé de délocaliser l’enceinte à San Francisco. Après de nombreuses saisons passées dans la bouillante salle de 19 556 places, le sextuple champion de la NBA, logera dans une nouvelle enceinte de 18 500 places dénommée LA CHASE CENTER. Le nouveau joyau sera plus moderne avec une capacité réduite. Un coup dur pour les supporteurs auprès de qui, Golden est devenu très populaire ces dernières années et qui a toujours été là dans les moments difficiles ainsi que dans l’ère de gloire qu’il vit actuellement. Nul ne doute que la cérémonie d’adieu sera rempli d’émotion pour ces derniers. Ce sera la 3e délocalisation du club après 1967 et 1996.
Rappelons que Golden State évolue à l’Oracle Arena appelé autrefois Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena (1966 – 1996),The Arena in Oakland (1997 – 2004),Oakland Arena (2005 – 2006), depuis 1966 où il a remporté 4 de ses 6 titres NBA (1975, 2015, 2017 et 2018).
